hi
i am going to build a house on what is now commercial property .. is there going to be a problem switching electrical service from commercial to residential???

No this should not be a problem. The electric utility will have to install a meter on your house and a temporary meter during the build. The local utility also known as the pole and wires company is Centerpoint Energy in the Houston area and as soon as they see that this is a home construction project they will designate the meter as a residential meter.

The good news is a home meter pays less for electricity in regards to TDSP charges compared to a commercial meter so you will be fine and in a better situation compared to the previous commercial property.
